Austin Roberts

Working at the intersection of discipleship, peacebuilding, and mission.

I serve with Youth With A Mission at An Cuan, an intentional Christian community in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland. My work brings together spiritual formation training of young disciples, the practice of peacebuilding, and a vision for the church as a reconciling presence in a divided world. I teach, write, and train in these areas both within YWAM and in other contexts.

My calling is to equip emerging adult Christians with the vision and skills to participate in God’s reconciling mission.

About Me

Since 2016 I have lived and worked at An Cuan, an intentional Christian community in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland, where I serve with Youth With A Mission. My work brings together discipleship, peacebuilding, and mission, forming young adults for reconciling lives in a divided world.

My academic background includes a Master of Arts in Peace Studies from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary and a Doctor of Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, where my research focused on integrating reconciliation frameworks into discipleship training for emerging adults. In practice this means teaching and staffing Discipleship Training Schools, developing reconciliation curriculum, lecturing and speaking across YWAM communities and beyond, and working to build the kind of intentional community where reconciliation is not just taught but lived.

I am based in Rostrevor and available for teaching and speaking engagements internationally.

My work

My work spans teaching, research, and community life, held together by a commitment to reconciliation as something practiced and embodied rather than merely understood. I teach in YWAM programs such as the Discipleship Training School, speak at conferences and training events, develop curriculum, and write in the areas of peacebuilding, discipleship, and missional community. Much of this work is rooted in my life at An Cuan in Rostrevor, and extends outward through partnerships across the YWAM network and beyond. My experiences in international travel and community living have produced an eclectic skill set along the way. I can find my footing in most cultural contexts, I’ve built a life around making people feel at home, and I have a well-earned reputation as a good cook.
